LAW OFFICE AND LAND AGENCY.
THE undersigned intends without delay, to open
in this City^and at the Brusca Santiago, offices
for the purpose of pursuing the Legal profession in
the Courts of Texas, and the prosecution of claims
of land situated in that State ; and offers his services
*°ThePLegislature of the State of Texa3 at its last
eession, by express enactment, extended the jurisdic-
tion and laws of the State over all the country east
of the Rio Grande. Mexican authority and laws are
forever at an end, on that side ot the river, it not fur-
ther west. The county of Nueces has been created
end organized. It comprises all the territory be-
tween the Rio Grande and INueces rivers, from the
Gulf of Mexico to a point above Laredo. Bexar
county includes the territory above.
By the Laws of Texas, no alien enemy can hold
real estate within its limits, nor can any non-resident
foreigner except upon ceriain conditions and under
restrictions. The undersigned is well acquainted
with the laws of Texas in relation to land-claims and
titles, also with the laws of Coahmla and 1 exas, ot
Tamaulipas and of Mexico, relative to land tides
east of the Rio Grande, and will give advice in rela-
tion to any claims, or prosecute them before the pro-
per officers or Courts for a reasonable compensation.
The Constitution and laws of Texas direct certain
classes of claims, shall be presented for examination
and adjudication within a fixed penou, not very dis-
tant, or be forever barred and prescribed.
Persons claiming under Mexican grants, will do
well to give prompt attention to their, as prepara-
tions are now beirij* made, to locate other claims on
the land covered by such titles, and the holders of
th*»m will be subjected to law suits and heavy expen-
ses, if thev neglect, or long delay, the presentation of
their rights and claims to the Texan authorities or fail
to have them legally surveyed and returned.
Until the undersigned shal> open an office in this
city, he can be seen and consulted at the Exchange
Hotel, on Commercial street.

A CARD
THE Subscriber, after returning thanks
for past favors, adopts this mode of ten-
dering his services in future, exclusively to
the public, as a licensed Auctioneer, appointed
by the State Government in 1845, lor this
city and its jurisdiction, with two solvent
sureties for the faithful perfoimance of his
duty as such; and now flatters himself that
by the most strict and unremitting attention
to his business, combined with an unalterable
determination to render stern justice to all
concerned, those absent as well as present,will
obtain a liberal portion of patronage.
He will always be ready to attend to the
sale of merchandize for the benefit of under-
writers, or others who may favor him with
their orders, in this city, at Burita, or at the
mouth of the River.
Goods of any description confided to his
care, on commission or otherwise, will be
disposed of without loss of time, at the high-
est cash prices, and on the most liberal terms.
It would be superfluous to say more.

and the public in general, that the undersign-
ed finds neither difficulty or inconvenience,
but on the contrary a pleasure in carrying
out his own system of rendering stem justice
to all concerned, those absent as well aspres
ent, and on the good faith of which solicits a
continuance of patronage. Advances will be
made if necessary on all merchandise confided
to his care.
